Fees

An initial consultation of up to 30 minutes in length may be scheduled for a fee of $45.00. Thereafter, our normal hourly rates apply.

Barry's hourly rate for legal services is $225.00. This rate is based upon his experience and skill at having practiced family law for 24 years and the average hourly rate charged by similarly qualified attorneys in the Adams County area.

A retainer will be required if you decide to hire Barry to represent you. The amount of that retainer will be based upon the type of issues to be addressed, the complexity of the legal and factual issues involved and the estimated time necessary to protect your rights and accomplish your goals. The standard retainer required for Barry to accept your case is $2,500.00. Barry will discuss the specific retainer required in your case at the conclusion of your consultation. In order to assist our clients in financing their legal services, our office accepts both Visa and MasterCard, which can be used for payment of an initial retainer or for payment of a monthly obligation for legal services provided. If the initial retainer nears depletion, subsequent retainers will be required. Any portion of a retainer unearned at the conclusion of the case will be refunded.

Colorado Law provides that if one party in a divorce proceeding has significantly more income or income potential than the other party, the court may assess a portion of the lesser income earner's attorney fees to be paid by the party with the higher income.
